Nam Ha Green Trail Camp 2 Days/1 Night

Trip Overview
The trek is led by a Khmu guide who takes you though the centre of the National Protected Area (Nam Ha NPA), an ASEAN declared Natural Heritage Site. You will be able to see many different kinds of non timber forest products (NTP’s), to learn about birds, animals, plants, and trees of the jungle tropical forest. Also you a likely to hear and perhaps fortunate enough to see mountain forest animals. You will spend some time relaxing in the mountain environment, staying overnight deep in our bamboo jungle camp located on the banks of Nam Ha River and enjoy traditional Lao food prepared with selected forest spices. Also you a likely to hear mountain animals calling and may be fortunate to see some forest animals.

Itinerary
Day 1: Luang Namtha-Ban Nam Ha-Nam Ha River Camp.  Approx. 5-6 hours.

Start from our office by Tuk Tuk around 30 minutes to Ban Nam Ha, to be joined by a local Khmu Nam Ha NPA guide.

The first day’s pace is moderate though the Nam Ha NPA where the guide’s knowledge of edible and medicinal plants will be demonstrated... You will be hiking uphill to see several massive old trees, many types of bamboo and divers forest plants. If you travel quietly you may see some wild animals such as monkeys, wild goats and wild pigs.

Later, you will trek to the Ban Nalan area and have a traditional lunch with the guides in the Ban Nalan area; the villages setup your camp, where you should arrive around 4:30 pm and overnight alongside the Nam Ha River.

Besides resting, you are free to go fishing for dinner with your Khmu guide or stroll around the camp or opt for a refreshing swim in the Nam Ha River alongside your camp.

Adventure Trek in Laos-Trek Laos
Day 2: Nam Ha River Camp-Nam Ha NPA-Luang Namtha. Approx. 5-6 hours

In the early morning you are likely to hear many kinds of animals communicating such as bear, monkey, barking dear, gibbon, wild pigs and jungle fowl from the higher mountain tops or if you are especially fortunate you may see them moving through the forest.

Before breakfast, early risers are free to take a walk around the camp. After breakfast prepared by our Khmu guide, you cross the Nam Ha River and hike uphill through forest.

Lunch will be prepared in the traditional way along the forest path. The guides can boil water and make soup in bamboo cooking vessels. They will encourage you to take part in the preparation of the meal, showing you how to construct simple spoons and chopsticks from bamboo and leaves. They will also brew a medicinal tea from wild plants collected along the way.

After lunch, you will have an easy two hour hike down the mountain slope until you arrive at the Jong stream, where your driver will be waiting to transport you back to Luang Namtha.

You may like to carry some local currency (Lao Kip) because you will have the opportunity to purchase local handicraft from the villagers.
